Eretz Bereshit — Genesis Land
Judean Desert · near Alon, about 20 minutes from Jerusalem
Eretz Bereshit, near Alon on the edge of the Judean Desert, is only about 20 minutes from Jerusalem, which makes it one of the easiest real desert weddings for your guests to reach. Palms and green gardens against wide desert hills, with room for up to 500 guests.
Large hospitality tents sleep up to 150, so your close friends and family can stay for a night under the desert sky after the party.
My tip as your photographer: plan the chuppah about an hour before sunset and keep 20–30 minutes after it for portraits in the open desert hills around the site. The contrast of dry hills and green palms in golden light is what makes photos from here special.

Maayan Haneurim Farm (Fountain of Youth)
Ramat Negev · a private lake oasis for two
Maayan Haneurim is a private family oasis hidden between the mountains of Ramat Negev, near Mashabei Sadeh, built around a freshwater lake with olive groves, fruit trees and farm animals. It is not a venue for a big wedding: it's couples-only, with just two wooden cabins, a two-night minimum and no children or pets.
That is exactly why I recommend it for an elopement, a honeymoon right after the wedding, or a quiet couple session in the desert. The Lake Cabin sits on the water with its own hot tub, and the View Cabin has glass walls toward the vineyards and the lake. A hand-carved stone cave and the lakeside terrace can be arranged with the family for a very small private ceremony. Visits are by reservation only.
My tip as your photographer: the lake at sunrise, with still water and a little mist, is magical for a calm, intimate couple shoot.

Zman Midbar, Arad
Cliff edge over the Dead Sea · eco lodge for a green wedding
Zman Midbar sits 600 m above sea level on a cliff edge near Arad, looking over the Judean Desert, the Dead Sea and the Moab Mountains. It's an eco lodge with an earthy, soulful mood, and I'd recommend it for a green, intimate wedding or a wedding weekend with music, yoga and friends.
The ceremony can be on the open terrace at the cliff edge, and Beit HaAdama, a round hall built from local earth with beautiful acoustics, is lovely for dinner, music and dancing. Guests stay in wooden cabins and eco suites with fire pits, or in khan-style shared lodges, and the kitchen is vegetarian and vegan. Quiet hours are 22:00–08:00, so plan an afternoon ceremony and an early-evening party.
My tip as your photographer: the view east over the Dead Sea glows in the soft light just after sunset, when the Moab Mountains turn pink. If you stay the night, a sunrise session on the cliff edge the morning after gives photos you won't get anywhere else.

Antelope Ranch — Africa in the Arava
Arava, near Moshav Tzofar · a wedding weekend with lodging on site
Antelope Ranch, just off Route 90 north of Moshav Tzofar, now hosts only private events, so on your wedding day the whole ranch is yours (the public safari closed in early 2026). Wide savanna-like grounds, palms and the Arava mountains give you a big, calm backdrop for a sunset chuppah.
I recommend it for couples who want guests to stay over: 12 air-conditioned safari cabins with a jacuzzi and balcony, a khan with built tents for groups, and a campsite. Shaded pavilions are heated in winter, and the morning after there are hot showers, a round wading pool and sulphur spring channels to soak in.
My tip as your photographer: keep the last hour before sunset free for portraits on the open ground toward the mountains. After dark, the warm lights of the cabins and the khan make the party photos feel cosy and intimate.

Moa Living, Tzofar
Arava Desert · an intimate wedding weekend in an eco oasis
Moa Living, near Moshav Tzofar in the Arava, is where I send couples who want a small, slow wedding weekend instead of one big night. Earth-brick rooms, a calm lake with a stone beach, palms and olive trees, plus a Great Hall and large tents for the ceremony and dinner, all in a 15-acre oasis on the old Nabataean Incense Route.
With 29 rooms (about 119 beds), from stone rooms with heated plunge pools to Rajasthani tents and the converted MoaBus, you can book the whole place and keep family and friends on site. Catering is kosher, vegetarian with fish, with Arava wines; barbecues and outside catering are not allowed. The morning after, guests have the cedar hot tub, ice baths, the Temazcal sweat lodge and yoga.
My tip as your photographer: the earth walls and the lake look their best in soft light. Plan your portraits along the water in the last hour before sunset, and use the arched entrance gate as a frame for the two of you.

How to choose
- Season and time: spring and autumn are easiest; in summer, hold the ceremony close to sunset.
- Access: parking, dirt roads and shuttles, especially for older guests.
- Operations: cold water, shade, restrooms, and a backup plan for wind and dust.
- Photography: check where the sun sets and whether the chuppah has a clean background.
